Frequently Asked Questions

PharmX is the most extensive e-invoicing platform for pharmacy in Australia and New Zealand.

The PharmX Gateway was launched in 2006 to provide pharmacy and pharmacy suppliers with an efficient and cost-effective way to connect and do business, no matter what technology they used.

It allows pharmacy and pharmacy suppliers to connect electronically for ordering and invoicing, for additional features such as stock checks, stock alerts, and credit notes.

e-invoicing refers to ordering and invoicing via the internet.

e-invoicing is considered best practice for businesses to conduct ordering and invoicing efficiently. It is significantly faster and more efficient than traditional means of invoicing and ordering such as paper-based and emailed PDFs.

The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman https://www.asbfeo.gov.au/ reports that e-invoicing reduces the costs associated with ordering and invoicing by two-thirds.

PharmX e-invoicing automates the processes of ordering and invoicing and allows pharmacies to order and check stock straight from their Point-of-Sale System.

This provides a number of benefits:

  • You can place orders and check on stock – quickly and easily from your Point-of-Sale system
  • This significantly reduces time associated with manual and paper-based ordering, including reducing staff costs and double-handling associated with manual checking of orders
  • Invoices are downloaded straight into your Point-of-Sale system, with one click
  • The automation of ordering and invoicing significantly reduces common problems associated with manual data entry, such as ordering errors resulting from typing mistakes
  • The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman https://www.asbfeo.gov.au/ reports that e-invoicing reduces the costs associated with ordering and invoicing by two-thirds

There are also additional benefits in terms of reducing infrastructure and technology. Pharmacies, suppliers and POS software Vendors can all benefit from reductions in infrastructure and telecommunication costs associated with phone calls, phone line rental, and modems.

PharmX is a system for e-invoicing. The benefits of e-invoicing are well established, including faster and more accurate ordering and invoicing.

The two major alternatives to ordering and invoicing have been paper-based or emailed PDFs. The trend to move away from these manual systems towards e-invoicing has resulted as industries worldwide have attempted to achieve greater productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

The Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman https://www.asbfeo.gov.au/ reports that manual systems for ordering and invoicing, such as paper or emailed PDFs, cost three times as much as e-invoicing. These extra costs result from hidden factors, such as the amount of staff time taken to double check manual orders and invoices and fix errors that result from manual data entry.

PharmX was introduced to provide pharmacies with an industry-wide platform for achieving more productive and more cost-effective ordering and invoicing.
