About Us

PharmX is a joint venture company, fully owned by the pharmacy IT vendors Corum, Fred IT Group, Simple Retail and Mountaintop.

Understanding that no single IT vendor, supplier or pharmacy had the market position alone to implement internet based ordering industry wide the IT vendors, for the first time, formed a consortium to provide the solution. Addressing the market need to increase the efficiency of the pharmacy supply chain and lower the operating costs of both pharmacies and wholesalers, PharmX, using the internet, allows pharmacists to order supplies from their supplier of choice within their existing POS software.

Starting in early 2006, PharmX signed with Genepharm in June and DHL and Alphapharm in December. Symbion, Sigma and API signed in the second half of 2007, with a number of shortline wholesalers and direct suppliers signing in 2008. Experiencing significant growth over the last two years, PharmX now transmits over half a million documents a month.

For suppliers PharmX offers transmission of orders, confirmations, out-of-stock and both order and turnover order invoices. PharmX has already undertaken the technical development to determine the suitable document formats to suit existing suppliers’ systems and provides a single point of contact for 95% of the IT vendor market. Providing internet ordering for pharmacists has never been easier.

For pharmacists, PharmX provides easy internet ordering using existing software systems. It allows pharmacists to reduce operating costs by removing modems and excess phone line rentals and enables a smoother ordering process by providing a faster response from suppliers with out of stock and invoice data.

For POS vendors, PharmX provides a single development specification for all pharmacy suppliers, reducing the costs of support and technology upgrades to meet supplier changes.
